Advantages: Wakes you up
Disadvantages: Health concerns
Red Bull is probably the original and most most famous of the caffine engery drinks. Since its introduction in the early 90s, there have been many copycat brands such as Relentless and Rockstar, but I think Red Bull is still the best.
It has a unique taste, very sweet and the colour of it isnt particularly appealing, sort of a greeny yellow colour. I find that when working late, or driving home in the early hours of the morning after a gig, Red Bull is the perfect pick up drink. Just the taste of it does make you feel like your getting a hit of caffine and even though it contains around the same amount of caffine as a cup of coffee, I prefer Red Bull in some situations.
There have been many concerns, not only about the effects of caffine but also colourings and a chemical called "taurine" used in the drink which has led it to actually be banned form being sold in Denmark and Uruguay so this is something you should consider when drinking it however, drinking it occaionally is fine. Mixing Red Bull with alcohol such as in the popular drink Vodka Red Bull has also raised concerns. Red Bull is a stimulant, which raises heart rates whereas alcohol is a depressant which has the effect of decreasing heart rate. The two mixed together and in large quantities can therefore have negative effects such as irregular heart rates.
Overall, Red Bull is a good drink in moderation, perfect instead of a cup of coffee to wake you up and give you a bit of extra energy.
Summary: I like a red bull occasionally
