Advantages: Can make you feel more alert
Disadvantages: Nasty artificial taste
Red Bull
Description: Energy drink
You have probably all seen the adverts "Red Bull gives you wings". This product is basically a fizzy drink which claims to give you energy. It comes in a silver and blue tin with the name written in red writing on the front. A tin contains 80mg of caffeine, which is quite a lot. To give you an idea, a cup of coffee contains around 55mg, so as you can see, this is definitely stronger.
Red Bull Claims the following:
'Vitalises body and mind, stimulates metabolism, increases endurance and improves concentration.'
It is a pale rust colour and quite fizzy. I don't actually like the taste very much, it seems a little synthetic and artificial. It is supposed to be fruity tasting but doesn't quite make it and is far to sweet to be enjoyable. I can't imagine drinking this for any reason other than to wake you up because it is not very nice.
On a positive, it can be okay mixed with vodka on a night out and the kick of the caffeine works well with the alcohol!
Generally speaking though, this is not worth the money, especially as a tin costs in the region of £1.20. There are loads of cheaper alternatives around so if you do want this kind of drink, perhaps try them instead and save some money.
This does wake you up a little, but if you are unused to caffeine, can also leave you feeling a little jittery and uncomfortable. I don't think it makes enough of a difference to justify the price and the unpleasant taste, and will be sticking to Pepsi for my caffeine hit!
Summary: Not worth the money in my opinion
