... Halewood had a few financial problems about 2 years ago. Most consumers aren't aware of the change in the receipe. The vodka which is now labelled as Red Square is actualy a standard, cheap vodka, the same vodka we label for tesco, asda ect. as their value vodkas. The ONLY vodka still using the oringinal receipe is Spars own brand Imperial Vodka (they bought the rights to the receipe). The new style 'basic' Red Square is still a good vodka if being used as a mixer but I wouldn't recommend drinking it neat. It ha...more

I decided to go for a change in my usual tipple tonight and have a couple of Vodka Red Square's - not just normal Vodka Red Square though, oh no, I've just sampled the lovliness that is Vodka Red Square IRN-BRU. Yummy. I originally went round to the shop for a loaf and some frozen veg and what do I come back with? 8 bottles of this lovely drink and 4p change... Mark is not amused - cue one STARVING man at breaktime tomorrow (no sarnies, see) and one hungover woman who can't be bothered to argue about it! Anyway, on with it. I brought the 275ml bottles for the amazingly cheap price of 2 for £1 (normally between 89p and 99p each) from Londis. ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Theres a wolf in my vodka (440 words)

Since putting my back out at work the physiotherapist has reccomended I sample a few bevvies in the evening as means to loosen up my tightened back muscles. I'm not much of a drinker generally (honestly) but always take medical advice..when it sounds fun anyway. So off I trotted to the shops tonight (doing my exercises too you see!) and decided to try something a bit different. I have always enjoyed Red squaresince its launch but generally avoid vodka due to the ... er...gastric nature of the hangover. Since they have begun to introduce these 70cl bottles though I have begun to drink it again as it is enough to mellow you out without getting blottoed. ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Red Square Vodka: 3 weeks of drinking Vodka.....just for Dooyoo! (394 words)

What can I say about Vodka? I thought, as I continued my market research and sampled a third Red Square Vodka and lemonade. Mmm, still not sure. Excuse me for a minute while I refresh my memory with regard to the taste. Oh yes, the op! Vodka is a distilled spirit which is usually around 37.5% proof. It's clear in colour and can be mixed with many different fruit juices, coca cola, and almost anything you could think of. There are many different brands of this spirit and I have heard many people say that there is no difference in quality between the most expensive and the cheapest. I decided to do a little experiment. It took me three weeks ...  Read the complete review

I work as quality control for an alcohol factory that makes and bottles Red Square Vodka. Red Square Vodka is own by Halewood int. based in Liverpool. It is a 37.5% vodka. Looks wise, it comes in a clear bottle with a red cap with Red Square printed on it. The labels are clear with red writting on them. About 18 months ago the receipe for Red Square Vodka was changed to cut back on costs, Halewood had a few financial problems about 2 years ago. Premium Review Red Square Vodka: Vodka, Squared not Snobed (188 words)

Vodka.. almost a stranger to no one, and more than a friend to some, But what gets me are the Vodka snobs. To eloborate, a vodka snob is a drinker that will have only top branded vodkas such as smirnoff, and then only the proper colour of label for that particular season. Now I'm not having a go at smirnoff, it's a drink I do enjoy, and yet it is not a 'must' have. I don't think Vodka can be viewed in the same way as say whiskey, different whiskeys can be vastly different in taste and body. Vodka can have sultle differences but I've never found one vodka (save the pre-flavoured type) to be majorly different to another.. and I've ...  Read the complete review
