Advantages: Gives that caffeine hit, tastes nice.

Disadvantages: Expensive!!! Smells a bit funky at room temperature

My husband and I are regular drinkers of energy drinks (me less so at the moment though because I'm pregnant and so cutting down on my caffeine intake) and Relentless is one we particularly like. Neither of us drink alcohol at home so for my husband, a can of Relentless at the end of a day at work is like having a can of beer; he enjoys it for the taste.

Relentless has been around for a number of years and is one of the many drinks produced by Coca Cola. This isn't obvious when looking at the can; there is no Coca Cola branding on the can, just the name in the small print on the can. The design of the can is very funky with the name of the drink written in a gothic style of font and emits rather a rock and roll feel, leading the customer to feel that they are perhaps living a little bit of a rock and roll lifestyle, yeah!

The can is about the size of a can of lager and holds 500ml of the drink which is a mixed fruit flavour. The flavour is not unlike that of Red Bull but is more syrupy. When poured out of the can, the drink is a dark yellow with a slightly luminous glow to it which can be a little disconcerting so I tend to keep it in the can so I can't see what it looks like! It is fizzy and refreshing to drink. Although it is syrupy, I don't find it so much so that it's sickly. Personal tastes differ of course!

It is an energy drink and contains 32mg of caffeine per 100ml of drink and there is a warning on the can to say that pregnant women should consume this as part of a balanced diet. I tend to have only half a can now and again so I don't overdo it on the caffeine. It does provide that hit too, gives the caffeine boost needed so don't drink it before bedtime!

The one downside of this is the price. There are often deals of 2 for £2 in supermarkets but normally a can costs around £1.35. At our Vue cinema a can costs £2.05 which I find extortionate!

There are many different flavours of Relentless which have different names such as Inferno and Libertus. Libertus is a new sugar free version which just seems to have appeared in the shops recently. Orange, tropical fruit and berry flavours are available and all very nice! The tropical one is quite nice as it's made up largely of fruit juice.

It recommends on the can that it is best enjoyed ice cold and I'd agree as once it's been left to sit and get to room temperature, it can have that cat pee smell that some energy drinks seem to give off!!!! Yuck!

Summary: A nice drink with an energy kick if you can afford it!
