~~Ribena Blackcurrant 500ml bottle~~
Being heavily pregnant in Cyprus this time of year is extremely hard, the heat makes you constantly need to drink, so I find that I am buying drinks every day and so today I thought I would buy one of my favourites, the Ribena blackcurrant still drink. This has to be one of my favourite drinks to buy when it is warm, it is refreshing and with it being a still drink you can drink it quite fast without getting heartburn from all the bubbles of the typical fizzy drinks.
This specific Ribena product comes in a 500ml bottle and it is also available in a carton for those younger consumers. The bottle is your average shape with a purple lid as Ribena is strongly related with the colour purple due to its prime ingredient being blackcurrant juice. The label also carries on the purple theme, it also has a picture of a blackberry bush and the Ribena logo, at the moment the label also contains information relating to a prize giving that they are holding where consumers can enter for the chance to win a pair of designer wellies. The bottle itself is made from 100% recycled plastic and is able to be recycled after use. On the back of the label there is the nutritional information which is as follows (per 250ml serving so each bottle contains two servings):
Ocado: £1.08 or 2 for £1.80
Tesco: £1.08 or 2 for £2.00
Protein g: trace
Carbohydrates g: 26.5
Of which sugars: 26.3
Vitamin C, mg: 80%
There is a lot of calories in this one bottle so I would not recommend drinking this product regularly, they have a really light blackcurrant Ribena which only contains 40 kcals per bottle, so if you still want to get your Ribena fix but without the calories I would recommend trying this product. The sugar is also quite high the product its self does not taste extremely sweet which is what you would expect with this level of sugar, again you can buy Ribena tooth kind which again would be another way to have Ribena often without damaging your teeth or your children's teeth. The vitamin C is great as I find it hard to keep my intake of vitamin C up to the required amount so I think its great that I can get it from this tasty bottle of Ribena.
Water, sugar, blackcurrant juice from concentrate 6%, vitamin C, citric acid, colour (anthocyanin). The product is not recommended for children under the age of 3 and this is stated on the bottle's label. Once the bottle is opened it has to be consumed within 4 days, however most people would be able to drink this bottle in one sitting so this information is not of much use to me. Ribena also say on their packaging that this product does not contain added preservatives, artificial colourings and it contains real fruit juice. It is nice to see a product that tastes as nice as this does not contain any extra artificial ingredients.
~~Other Ribena products~~
There are other Ribena products which can be purchased such as in the classic range there are: blackcurrant (this product), strawberry, raspberry, apple and really light blackcurrant (low calorie). There are also the sparkling drinks in blackcurrant and raspberry and finally the new Ribena plus in apple and peach and also mixed berries.
This for me is the best blackcurrant drink that can be bought, I love the strong blackcurrant taste and it has just the right amount of sweetness without it being overly sweet. It tastes fresh and you can tell that it has actual fruit juice in and is not flavoured by artificial ingredients. The drink itself is incredibly refreshing for a hot day and is the best thing for me as I can't have a nice refreshing pint until after the baby is born! However, I am quite happy to settle with Ribena for the moment! I would definitely recommend this product as I truly cannot think of any bad points about it, and it can be enjoyed by all members of the family (not for under 3s though, I'm sure they won't mind!
Summary: Would recommend
