      Advantages

      Disadvantages

I received a selection of Ribera plus free from bzz agent and was really looking forward to trying them. There is a good range of flavours which all taste fantastic and are suitable for any occasion. Also it's good to know that they are full of vitamins and goodness unlike other drinks aimed at children. My son couldn't get enough of them!!

      Advantages

      Ok but nothing special

At home, I normally stock two types of drinks for the children. One is some form of cordial, that's mixed with water. This is for them to drink while at home with their meals/snacks. The other are small cartons of drinks, normally fruit juice. But this particular variety came to us as a sample via Bzzagent ( when signed up, you receive free samples of products to try, review then spread the word ). These drinks are available from the usual places, such as supermarkets, costing £2.69 for a pack of 10 or 2 for £4.50 from Asda.

      How does it come packaged?

This drink comes packaged in a small rectangular cardboard carton. 200ml in size. The front and the back of the carton mirror each other. The ' Ribena Plus ' logo is a third down on the front/back, with pictures of apples and pears floating around it. It mentions the flavour, which is Apple and Peach and it also mentions there is no added sugar in the product and contains Vitamins A, C and E.

On one side of the carton it displays the nutritional information. On the other side it states what makes the product different, its ingredients list and company contact details.

To drink from the carton there is a straw attached to the packaging, and once opened from the its clear plastic wrapper, needs to pierce a small silver foiled hole on the top.

      What's special about this drink?

Its made from a brand that we are all familiar with, which is Ribena. This drink contains no added sugar and only contains natural fruit sugars within the drink. The additional vitamins help to support the immune system ( A and C ) and are anti oxidants ( E ).

      Ingredients

Water, Fruit Juices from Concentrate 10% (Apple (6%), Orange (3%), Peach (1%)), Citric Acid, Vitamins (A, C, E), Sweeteners (Aspartame, Acesulfame K), Flavourings, Stabiliser (Locust Bean Gum), Contains a source of Phenylalanine

      Each pack contains ( 200ml-of an adult's GDA )

      Calories 10 less than 1%
      Sugars 2.0g 2%
      Fat Nil 0%
      Saturates Nil 0%
      Salt Trace less than 1%

      How does it taste?

Both myself and my children have tried this flavour out. As you can imagine, the children liked it as it was wet, tasted fruity and reasonably sweet, and replenished two very thirsty young children. So no complaints there.

My opinion? Despite this being labelled as an Apple and Peach drink, I tasted more peach and very little apple, in fact no apple. It was quite fresh in taste. It had a decent sweetness to it, which wasn't too sweet or sickly, so in that respect was very easy and pleasant enough to drink. This drink very much reminded me of a cordial mixed with water, and I would've liked to have tasted a higher ratio of fruit. The drink to me did taste quite artificial and not very natural. Rather than the sugar content tasting as if it came from fruit, it was more the opposite to me. No major depth of flavour to this, but I didn't expect that. But overall an ok drink to have from time to time.

What I did have an issue with was who this is marketed for. The size of the carton, the colouring and the design screams to me children and younger children. But on the packaging it mentions this isn't suitable for children under the age of 3. The basic nutritional information is for an adult, but if this is designed more for younger people in mind, should this not be reflected in it? So if I was to purchase this drink, myself and my son could drink it, but not my daughter. Not the best situation...

Would I buy these myself? No. The drink is ok, and only ok. It's fine to drink and is quite refreshing, but I feel it should taste more fruity, more natural and should have a better balance of the flavours that it's supposed to contain. Nice drink for children ( if age appropriate ), but not my number 1 choice.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

I received some ribena plus cartons free from Bzzagent and really enjoyed them. My son and husband loved them too. The great things about them is they are low in sugar and this particular one Raspberry and Apple have calcium whereas the other flavours have vitamins A, C & E. I have had to purchase more of these because they have been enjoyed by all the family. I would definitely recommend

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

I never buy Ribena I see it as too sweet, but..... I tried these and they are lovely like a cold flavoured water with a small hint of apple and peach which was my children's favourite and mine. They have asked me if I can start buying these in. We were very impressed with these and would recommend to everyone.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        nice fruity drink

I discovered this a few months ago in my local shop. I like Ribena but the other flavours they do have not been quite as good but I like peach flavoured drinks very much so thought Id give this a go.

        Price/Availability

Ive seen this in carton multipacks, 500ml bottles and 850ml concentrate. Ive seen the cartons and the concentrate in Asda, Tesco, Morrisons and Sainsburys, the 500ml bottles are in some local shops and Tesco. Price wise the 500ml bottle is around £1.15, although many shops have an offer of buy 2 for £2 or similar. The cartons price around £2.89 for 10 x 200ml, again I have seen this on offer for £2 or similar. Concentrate price £2.89 or £2/half price offers depending on the store.

        Packaging/preparing

The packaging for all 3 is the distinctive Ribena logo, because it is part of the Ribena Plus range is does clearly display the word "Plus" bigger than the word "Ribena" however the colours and general layout is similar to that of a normal Ribena carton/bottle so you can see its part of the Ribena family quite easily. The cartons and 500ml bottles are easy, simply open and drink, the concentrate I pour about 1 part to 4 parts water, but I like mine quite strong so its best to use what is according to your taste.

        Taste

The liquid itself has a lovely natural peach look about it, some juices that has orange coloured fruits can look really synthetic and bright looking but this doesn't, It also has the added benefit of vitamins A C and E in it. Taste wise its really nice, Ive previously been disappointed by Ribenas new flavours brought out over the years however I quite like this one. The peach flavour stands out more than the apple but its not to much or to sweet, I am not a massive fan of really sweet and sickly drinks and for me this is an ideal refreshment without making me feel sick. Ribena in my opinion can only be drunk really cold so I recommend sticking these in the fridge or add cooled water/ice cubes to the concentrate, it makes a lovely refreshing drink.

        Overall

I would recommend this to those who like the Ribena range, or like peach flavoured drinks. Ive had all 3 of the types available and I like them all them, I think it makes a nice change from the usual blackcurrant and equally its nice to have more peach flavoured drinks on the market. There are always offers on these, I only tend to buy Ribena either as a single use bottle/carton or when on offer, but I still think at full price its a fair price to pay for it.

          Disadvantages

          Lovely drink

I was selected to try this product and the summer fruits version by the Bzz Agents website that I am a member of, I have always loved Ribena blackcurrant drinks and was pleased when they brought out the Ribena light but had never tried any of the other flavours so when I was invited to this campaign I was really pleased at being given the chance to try it for free.

The product can be bought in 1 litre dilutable bottles or in cartons and is available in 4 flavours, summer fruits, apple and peach, blackcurrant and red apple. The cartons are a really good size in my opinion and ideal drinks for packed lunch boxes or for taking when you are going on days out, each carton holds 200mls.

So far I have only seen these cartons for sale in supermarkets but I wouldn't think it will be too long before they start popping up in discount style stores, it currently costs £2.69 for 10 cartons. The juices are fantastic for children they have no added sugar or artificial colours and have added vitamin A, C and E which is great for us with our youngest as we wanted to give her added vitamins but she doesn't like any of them. Vitamins A & C help support your immune system and vitamin E is an antioxidant.

I was eager to try the Apple and Peach flavour when it arrived and I found it was easy to open the carton without any of the juice flowing out of the straw due to the force of opening which I have know on previous carton drinks. I thought the juice smelt really sweet when I first opened the cartons and expected it to have a very artificial sweet taste but this was not the case at all.

I found the taste of this was really fruity but not overly sweet and I could certainly taste both the apple and the peach in that variety. I found the juice was thirst quenching and was nice both at room temperature and chilled from the fridge. We also trialled the summer fruits juice and that one was just at nice so now I plan on trying the red apple one.

Both my girls loved this juice and I will be buying more of it but of course like with everything else I will be trying to pick them up on offer, they are ideal for pack lunches and days out and best of all they are good for you.
