Advantages: It's a drink and it isn't rancid lol
Disadvantages: Read review!
I absolutely love the smell and taste of strawberries! Just this morning in fact I had a shower with strawberry shower gel and used a strawberry body cream afterwards lol. I love strawberry air freshers, conditioners anything really and so when I saw this Ribena Squash (made up in bottle) in Home Bargains priced 39p a bottle (instead of 79p a bottle usually I know cos I normally buy it lol) I couldn't resist buying a couple of bottles as it was a warm day and I was simply parched wandering round my town centre spending money I didn't have to spend lol.
The Packaging...
As on the review photograph for once lol! Its a clear plastic 500ml bottle with a plastic label over the main of it and there is a picture of fresh strawberries on there and in red, yellow and white writing I'm told it is Ribena 'Rich in Vitamin C And A Powerful Antioxidant' Strawberry Drink. On the back of the bottle I'm told a little bit about the product, the best before date is stamped on, I'm told how to store it, size is stated, contact details for Ribena are given, ingredients and nutritional information is there and finally there is a bar-code on there. This drink is available in smaller and larger sizes and in cartons and is ready to drink. Nice bottle and informative enough, this is.
A Bit About The Product According To The Back Of The Bottle....
No added preservatives
No artificial colours or sweeteners
Contains real fruit juice
All fruit tastes good, right? Of course, but only some fruit are special enough to make the heavenly taste of Ribena. Strawberries may be small but they're terribly handsome and bursting at the seams with intense juiciness. Step forward the strawberry - we're delighted it makes it into Ribena.
The Drink Itself....
Deep red in colour, and very packed with strawberry flavour. No bits in it, no bubbles.... the juice is see through and it even tastes 'transparent'. It is juice and is distinctive in flavour and you can detect the water content within it. Very sweet though and I did notice that I left some in my bottle last night (cap tightened and in the fridge) and so I drank some when I got up this morning and it really didn't smell at all good! This contains black carrot (no really lol) and the more I sniffed at it the smell in the bottle the more I could smell that carrot/vegetable smell so I advise when not freshly opened to pour it into a glass or something because I found the smell really horrible though the drink itself was fine and fresh and is fine for up to 4 days of opening it providing you store it well.
So as I said yes it's sweet. Overly so in my opinion as the flavour of the strawberries is so natural and I feel overpowered by sugar which I get the impression is trying to pop the flavour through when it doesn't need it at all!
It does leave a slight after-taste and in my view this is not as refreshing as I'd like it to be due to the sweet after taste left behind for ages. If you like your sweet drinks though..this could be for you and after-all it is great quality...Ribena style!
