My daughter bought home a couple of bottles of Ribena the other day and I hadn't had this stuff for an absolute age before then. Usually I tend to have the Robinsons High Juice if I have a squash but this was a lovely change. My daughter picked this stuff up from one of the smaller supermarkets in town (either Somerfields or Spar) and it was on buy one get one free for the 600ml bottles so do look out for it as it's very expensive.


I recommend this juice served with some chilled water (we keep ours in a filter jug in the fridge) and some ice because it makes it really thirst quenching in this hot weather we're currently having. You don't need as much of this as you do some cheaper squashes for a good strong taste so in that respect the value for money is quite reasonable.


I made my glass about 1 part juice to 6 parts water and the taste was strong and blackcurrant while the texture was really cold, silky and thirst quenching. I can't say much about the smell of this because I don't tend to notice that any drink smells of much.


The added bonus of drinking any squash is that it all helps to give you some of your daily vitamin C requirement and with this being very densely concentrated, Ribena is no exception. It's quite high in sugar though so it's best to alternate between drinking this and drinking plain water, especially in these warmer times when it's important to drink such huge quantities of fluid.

Summary: I can see this featuring regulalry throughout the summer in our house!
