Advantages: Tastes great - full of vitamin C

Disadvantages: Pricey and has a high sugar content

There are many different brands of blackcurrant cordial on the market nowadays & you can pick up a supermarkets own branded drink for around 50p which is around 1/6th of the price of Ribena but the taste just isn't the same.

Ribena is a blackcurrant flavoured cordial drink that tastes just divine. Its made from real fruit juice and its all I drink when im not feeling well as its full of Vitamin C and the taste is so rich thats its pretty much the only thing I can drink when ill that actually tastes like it should do. The cordial is a really thick mixture and a really deep blackcurrant colour.

Available in a fully recyclable plastic bottle bearing the famous 'Ribenaberry' logo with a gold lid encased in gold foil (which I have to admit I always find difficult to get into!) Ribena has been manufactured since 1936 and is still as popular now as it was back then even though many cheaper unbranded products can now be found on the market.

Not the cheapest cordial on the market - a 1 litre bottle will set you back around £2.75 though a bottle will last you a good few months even with regular use as the flavour is so rich you only need the smallest amount of cordial which is then diluted (1 part cordial to 4 parts water is recommended) for a really flavoursome fruity cordial drink.

A standard glass-size of Ribena contains 67% of your RDA of Vitamin C, hence the reason why I drink it so much when im ill. It contains no artificial colours, flavours or sweeteners either making it a suitable drink for children (though it recommends not to be drunk by children under 3 years old). The only gripe really is with the sugar content, however Ribena is also available in the 'light' variety with less sugar so you may want to opt for this if it is for your children - the price is the same for both versions.

As a suggestion a friend of my also likes it warm - not really my cup of tea drinking it like this but apparently is quite soothing on a cold day!

In summary I love Ribena and so does my son. Its definitely the tastiest blackcurrant cordial drink available on the market and as I said its great for making you feel that bit better when ill. A tad pricey but with this I really do believe you get what you pay for.

I give this 4/5 stars. The star lost is due to the price & sugar content.

Summary: Love this stuff!!
