Advantages: The nicest one on the market
Disadvantages: Sugary drinks are not good for you
Ribena Blackcurrant Concentrate
Description: 600ml. Ribena is a natural drink that contains NO artificial sweetener, colour, or flavour. Ribena is a brand of uncarbonated soft drink made by GlaxoSmithKline in the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand.
I am sure that you have seen this drink on the shelves of your local supermarket, even if you haven't tasted it. I bought a liter bottle for £2.80 from my local shop, bigger bottles are also available. It comes in a see through bottle with a purple label, red lettering and pictures of blackcurrants on the front.
This is a diluting drink, so you basically add a small amount of the concentrate and then top up with water. How strong you have it obviously depends upon personal taste but as this is very fruity and flavour filled, I don't have it very strong. It is great with ice, as a chilled drink and there is a good review on here that talks about having it as a hot drink too - I have never tried that but am keen to since reading it!
There are loads of cheaper varieties of blackcurrant juice on the market, but for some reason, I have never managed to find one that is as good as Ribena. The taste is really fresh, fruity and tangy, and quite unique to the brand. Each mouthful is refreshing and thirst quenching and manages to be sweet, without being too sweet.
Carbohydrates - 1.4g (1.1g sugar)
Fat/Fibre - 0.0g
Protein - Trace
Vitamin C - 40mg.
So this is a sugary drink, which isn't the best for you, but is loads better than fizzy drinks and really does have a great flavour which refreshes and hits the spot each time. It isn't the cheapest brand on the market, but it is nicer than the others and a bottle does last because it is a diluting juice. I will be buying this again, and recommend that you do to - delicious blackcurranty goodness in a glass, tasty!
4 stars from me, simply because it is more expensive than other brands.
Summary: Well worth the extra!
