Robinson’s Fruit and Pink Grapefruit

Over the Christmas holidays we always buy in a few bottles of juice for the grandchildren and ourselves, sometimes it’s nice to sit down with a refreshing glass of juice instead of drinking coffee all the time, not to mention it’s good for you as we’re all supposed to drink eight glasses of water a day.

I always buy Robinson’s fruit juices as this is a brand I trust and has a good flavour, there’s nothing worse than buying a cheap brand of juice not only do you have to use twice as much juice to dilute it but the flavour never seems to taste like the fruit it’s supposed to be.

Robinson’s have got this down to a fine art and which ever flavour is written on the bottle you can be sure the juice will taste like it’s supposed to. When we went to the supermarket to buy the Christmas food, the juice was on the list. We went to Safeway’s where the price of a bottle of Robinson’s juice is usually 97p but they were on offer buy three bottles for two pounds.

I thought this was a good deal and so we looked at the choices and saw the fruit and pink grapefruit flavour. I have never tried this one before, so we bought it.
It comes in the usual type of plastic juice bottle you buy, with a twist off lid and the colour is a very light pink. The Robinson’s logo is on the front of the label and the design is the same as the other flavours.

Getting home with this I had to try it out, you just put a little in a glass and add water. The colour then dilutes to a very pale pink which is a bit off putting as it looks very weak. I was surprised at the taste, it wasn’t a very sour taste like you’d expect grapefruit to be, but it wasn’t sweet either, as Robinson’s have the no added sugar on the label. The taste was very refreshing and it did taste of grapefruit.

You can dilute it with water, or lemonade for an extra tangy drink. This one will be a firm favourite for me in the summer months, as it is refreshing and when it’s hot I can imagine it will quench the thirst. Especially if I make up some of the juice into ice-cubes to put into a large jug of the diluted juice to serve in the garden.
I was nearly put off by the colour of the juice but I’m glad I wasn’t because I was pleasantly surprised at the flavour and at how much I like it.

Robinson’s juices are great for children, they have no added sugar so it doesn’t make them hyper after drinking it like a lot of orange juices do, I’m not sure if this is the flavour a lot of little kids will like although it isn’t sour it is a different taste to the others and more of a thirst quencher .
So if you haven’t tried it yet grab yourself a bottle and see if you like it.

I'm not a huge fan of Robinson's myself, but good review.

Nice to read a non-alcoholic one tonight. We have the no-added sugar ones. Happy NY :o)
