Advantages: Quenches Thirst

Disadvantages: Bulky

As a family we tend to go through literally litres and litres of juice every single week. My son I have to say is the one who drinks the most, well I should say has half a glass at a time and then pours the rest down the sink because it has been out too long. Hence I now just pour him half a glass at a time to compensate for this. I have tried so many different juice types over the years however as it can be an expensive experience buying litre bottles I tend to go for very large containers of 4 litres or more if I can get them. The product we tend to use most in our household is Robinsons Fruit Squash in Orange.

I purchased this item from my local Morrison's store. (Having a car is recommended) as it is extremely heavy to carry!!! It cost £3.50 which I think is a bargain price as it provides 80 servings in each bottle. This tends to last our household around a week. They also have a blackcurrant version so I tend to rotate the flavours week on week. The bottle is huge so stands out prominently usually on the bottom shelf of the juice aisle however I have seen it on a shelf end from time to time on a featured promotion.

The product comes in an extremely thick clear plastic bottle which has indented lines to make gripping the bottle a little easier. The label is green with pictures of halved oranges on the front. It sports the Robinsons logo prominently and states that it is the fruit orange squash version of the product. There is a green screw-top lid and a handy carrying handle. This is a great idea as it can be awkward lifting the product to get it into your trolley!!!

The orange juice itself is the diluting variety. The manufacturer suggests that you use one part juice with four parts water. However if giving the drink to small children add extra water to the product. I have to confess I like mine slightly stronger so tend to add extra juice to it as I don't like the taste of weak orange. The juice itself contains no artificial colours, flavours and sweeteners or added sugars. It is orange juice made from concentrate which is also suitable for vegetarians. I think it tastes great it is not overly sweet and is extremely efficient in quenching the thirst particularly of little boys!!!! The only downside of using this product is that it is bulky however again the manufacturer offers advice in that when pouring out the product, they suggest supporting the top of the bottle whilst also gripping under the base. I have spilled this a couple of times when the bottle was first opened due to this!

This product doubles up as a cheap source of ice lollies in the summer months too. All you need is a cheap lolly making kit some water and Robinsons dilute juice. I add the juice to a jug and pour in water it is better if you add quite a bit of dilute as this makes the lollies taste better. Simply pour into the lolly kit and shove them in the freezer. They freeze really quickly and are usually ready in about an hour or two. Trust me this saves a fortune in the long-run and are always appreciated in the hotter weather.

Overall I would highly recommend this juice in terms of value for money. If further information is required on the Robinsons brand then take a look at the website. www.britvic.com.
