Disadvantages: nothing
As neither myself or my husband drink hot drinks we get through quite a lot of soft drinks but I tend to purchase more cordials rather than fizzy pops. One brand of fruit cordials that is very well known and I can remember my mum purchasing when I was a child was Robinsons. I normally tend to purchase more berry based cordials but recently spotted some of the Robinsons flavours on offer in Tesco and decided to have a change and purchased the Orange flavour.
The Robinsons fruit cordial was on a half price special offer at Tesco and cost just £0.79 for a 1 litre bottle. I thought this was excellent value especially as it states on the bottle that it contains 20 servings.
Robinsons have been established since 1823 and have been making there fruit cordials since 1935 when they were developed at Wimbledon. (www.robinsonsdrinks.com)
The cordial is packaged in a clear plastic bottle allowing you to see the Orange cordial inside and has a blue screw cap lid. The first time you open the bottle you will need to have a good grip to allow you to break the seal which is in place to ensure that the bottle cannot be tampered with. There are paper labels on the front and back of the bottle which contain all the necessary information you need to know about the cordial. It also states that the bottle is suitable for recycling.
The Orange cordial contains no added sugar, artificial colours or flavours. To make the cordial you simply dilute 1 part cordial with 4 parts water. Personally I prefer to drink cordials fairly weak so tend to use around 3 parts cordial to 4 parts water but obviously this is just my own taste.
As this cordial has no added sugar it is light in calories with 100ml containing just 8 calories. This though does not to me impact on the flavour. This cordial is very tasty and has a nice fresh orange flavour. When diluted with cold water and ice cubes added it makes a lovely refreshing drink. I sometimes also dilute the cordial with soda water instead of still water to make a healthier version of a fizzy drink.
Overall I really enjoyed this Orange cordial from Robinsons it makes a lovely fruity, refreshing drink which is low in calories but still very tasty. I would certainly recommend it as it is an excellent quality cordial and when on offer is a bargain as for me it makes more than its stated 20 drinks.
Summary: a lovely refreshing drink
