I like cricket and as cricket followers will know, Rubicon are currently one of the sponsors of the Cricket World Cup, a competition in which England were mauled by Sri Lanka earlier today in a very one-sided encounter.
The only bright moments during the game were when the programme went to a commercial break and one of a series of Rubicon ads was aired. They are bright, tropical and mildly amusing and advertise a range of fruit juice drinks which I have found to be mostly very tasty and really quite enjoyable.
Normally I go for the cheaper brands when it comes to juice purchases, but when there are offers on the better brands, I am sometimes tempted. Hardly surprising that whilst Rubicon is enticing us to try their product there are two good offers currently available in the UK's leading supermarkets.
Tesco has a 3 for £3 deal and Asda has a 2 for £2 deal, so this shows a good saving from the standard price of £1.48 for a 1litre pack.
When I serve my wife her weekend fruit juice - we tend not to have breakfast together during the week - she always knows whether we are having expensive fruit juices by the size of the glasses I put out. We both like the Guava flavour and have had it before so we knew in advance that in drinking this, we were going to get a tasty refreshing fruit juice drink that was pleasantly sweet without being syrupy and that is a great way to wash down our breakfast. It reminds us of our various long-haul holidays and although it isn't quite the same as enjoying a real fruit cocktail on the terrace whilst the sun beats down, well, we can still use our imagination.
This juice comes in a 1 litre standard size waxed paper juice container and to us at least is best served chilled. We only use small glasses holding about 100ml, but generally have a top up. Each 100ml serving will provide you with 53 calories and 12.5g of sugar.
We enjoy this drink but we also like to try different brands and therefore tend to buy whatever is on offer. After all, there is a huge choice these days, so you can generally find something worth trying.
I'll give this one the full 5 stars.
Summary: I like this one!
