However i cant compalin too much considering its around £1.50 or so for 2 litres, without a doubt the cheapest cider money can buy, but that is reflected in the taste. The best way to drink this cider is to make a form of snakebite. Buy some berry squash (blackberry and apple my recommendation) and add about 2 inches of squash per pint. This takes the edge off the cider and makes it much more drinkable. The packaging is standard sainsburys basic range, with th...more

Premium Review Sainsbury's Basics Cider: Horrible tasting (218 words)

I see the other reviews gave this a pretty good review. I am going to disagree. I HATE this cider. I am quite a big cider fan and have tried many, many different types. This cider is almost undrinkable when sobre. You would expect Sainsbury's basics cider to be, how shall we put it, somewhat unpalatable? But when we bought some on a budget one time (we were staying at Reading music festival at the time) and were surprised. I don't actually drink cider much these days but the cider-drinker of my past self is speaking to you and saying that this one isn't at all bad. We preferred it to the Strongbow we were drinking at the same time... whether that says more about Sainsbury's basics cider or Strongbow is in the eye of the review reader but we definitely found the former much more drinkable. The Strongbow had a harsh kind of taste which wasn't present in the Sainsbury's ...  Read the complete review

Packaging is recyclable. Disgusting chemical taste, overpriced for such disgusting water.

Cheap and decent looking bottle Too sweet and all round a bit odd in the taste stakes for me!
