Tawdry and cheap (Sainsbury's Basics Lemonade)

Many of my reviews have been of or mentioned Tesco Value products, but never have I crossed the line onto the dreaded Sainsbury's Basics range. I did give their Lemonade a go recently, which costs all of 18p for a 2 litre bottle, but sadly, this is one instance where the price really does reflect the tawdry and shoddy quality of the product.

Sadly, this is another cheap product that simply has lots of sweetener pumped into it with the hope that this will suffice and compensate for the lack of...everything else. It's unfortunately very saccharine and cloying, which almost entirely hampers the enjoyment. I also found that it's INCREDIBLY fizzy, and it made my nose fizz up quite a few times indeed.

Also, make sure to do the bottle up VERY tight, because this thing must have more leaks than the Iraqi navy, as it goes flat very quickly, transforming it from barely drinkable to entirely undrinkable. As the saying goes, "you reap what you sew", and frankly, this is just inferior product that really wears its 18p price tag on its sleeve. The only benefit is that it's very low in all the terrible additives, but when it tastes this bland and devoid of anything resembling good flavour, I'd much rather go for the teeth-rotting, sugar-pumped version, which at least has a pungent, lemony flavour! You get what you pay for, and I pretty much paid for horribly sweet water that's ridiculously carbonated and goes flat after just a few days in the fridge!

Summary: Less appealing than a Chelsea grin
