Advantages: Cheap

Disadvantages: Does not taste very nice,

I am a huge fan of fizzy drinks, and have always tried new brands and value ranges that comes with a wide range of different tastes and quality. In a way, I feel that the major and premium brands have influenced our perception of them, and it seems to lead us to purchase drinks which have been advertised and associated with celebrities such as David Beckham.

I have already tried a wide range of cheaper substitutes for the more expensive brands, and have been reasonably pleased. Therefore, I wanted to try the Sainsbury's Basic Lemonade because it seemed like a decent drink that might not be as good as premium brands, but should be acceptable for its price.

The packaging was very simple with a label that had a white background and the orange writings and graphics which was accompanied by the Sainsbury Basic branding.

When opening the bottle, there was the sound of fizzing. However I felt that there was only a little bit of fizz compared to the other brands which I have used, therefore I would conclude that there is less has in this particular product.

You get a rather faint smell of lemonade which again is not as strong as the other brands, if you were to pour it and leave it in a cup for a considerable period of time, the smell would wear off and you probably would not to assume that it is lemonade unless you actually tasted it.

The taste of the drink is not the greatest, you get a slightly weak taste of lemonade and some fizz. It is not substantial at all, I find it hard to believe that this is actually sold as lemonade. In fact, it tastes like water that has sugar added to it.

For the price of less than 22p per bottle, I feel this is a drink that is suitable for drinking as a refreshment but not as a substitute for lemonade.

Summary: Its a decent drink as a drink, but it does fail as a lemonade drink
