Sainsbury's Basics Lemonade
Advantages: Fizzy, sweet, cheap.
Disadvantages: Goes flat fast!
Well I have a fairly large family and as you would expect this means that I have big shopping bills. I like to enjoy some of the good things in life and let my children have treats at the same time. This basics lemonade is perfect for this as it's just 18p for a 2 litre bottle so I can afford to buy a few each week and let the children have a little glass after school.
The lemonade comes in a plastic bottle and everything about it tells you that this is an economy product and it's not the sort of thing you would leave out on the side to show off with.
The lemonade is clear in colour and very fizzy. As soon as I opened the bottle it fizzed up and if I have left one of my little ones to open it up I'm never surprised to find that they have spilt some, usually all over themselves and my kitchen floor.
This lemonade has a wonderful fizz to it initially although it does have a slight chemical taste to it that's a little off putting. The fizz doesn't last very long and a bottle of this is usually flat within just a few hours of opening but that might be because three of my children are regularly opening the bottle to pour out another few mouthfuls. The lemonade does have a faint lemon taste to it although it's more a sugary taste than anything else. The sugary taste is one that sticks around in my mouth after tasting this and while the bubbles are fun and tickle my nose a little they don't really add anything to the lemonade. The lemonade really is quite average and while the price is fantastic the taste of this is nothing special. My children do like this lemonade though and so I am happy to continue buying it and let them have some in moderation.
Each 250ml serving contains just 1 calorie & nothing else. This means that it's fine for little ones and it's just the fizz that may cause a few problems with their teeth which is why I limit the intake that my children have. It's nice to give them a treat from time to time but I don't want them to drink solely lemonade and fizzy things so this is something that they see as a treat.
Summary: Basics lemonade for 18p.
