Sainsbury's Basics Sparkling Water
Advantages: GREAT PRICE
I have recently tried out the Sainsbury's Basics Sparkling Table Water and this is my review.
I like to have a couple of bottles of sparkling water in my house to give to my guests when I am having a dinner party. I also drink it myself with a dash of fruit cordial in it and I think this is a nice refreshing drink.
I usually buy the value brand bottle of sparkling water cos I do not notice much difference between them and the more expensive brands. I am also trying to cut down the cost of my weekly shop and so am happy to try out some of the budget brand products to see if I can save some money. The items in the budget brands usually have unattractive packaging but I am not to bothered about that as the packaging goes in the bin and I am more bothered about what the product itself is like.
I bought the Sainsbury's Basics Sparkling Table Water in a local branch of Sainsbury's supermarket and I only paid 17 pence for the bottle which is a two litre size. I think this is a brilliant value price for such a big bottle of water. I think there is also a version of the Sainsbury's Basics bottled water that is "still" instead of being sparkling.
The bottle is made of see through plastic which can be recycled which is good for me cos I like to do my bit for the environment. There is a white and orange label on the bottle which has the name of the product and it looks very basic to me.
The water is a clear colour and has plenty of fizz in it. I did not find that the Sainsbury's Basics Sparkling Water went flat to quickly and the fizz lasted in the bottle for a couple of days after it had been opened although I had to make sure the lid was on very tightly otherwise I thought it went a bit flat.
The Sainsbury's Basics Sparkling Water does not have a lot of taste but that is what I usually find with sparkling water. I was worried that there might be a bit of an after taste from the Basics water as I have found this with cheaper brands of mineral water or sparkling water that I have bought before but this was not the case with the Sainsbury's Basics Water and there was no bitter taste or horrible after taste that I noticed while I was drinking it.
I really do not like the packaging for the Sainsbury's Basics Sparkling Water but I have bought it twice now for dinner parties as I really like the taste and the price suits my budget. What I usually do when I am having guests over is to chill the water in a crystal jug that I have and when I am ready to put the jug on the table I put a couple of lemon wedges and some ice into the jug. That way nobody needs to know that it is a budget product although I am not a snob and would tell them if they asked. I am not bothered enough about the cheap looking packaging to put me off from buying the sparkling water again.
I would suggest giving the Sainsbury's Basics Sparkling Table Water a try out cos I think it is a really great value product and it tastes really nice. I will definitely buy it again cos I do not see the point in paying more for another brand when this one suits me and I like the taste so much.
