Advantages: Full bodied yet easy drinking

Disadvantages: Too strong to drink for every mug - so heavy drinkers would need to alternate

Regular coffee drinkers and Sainsbury's shoppers will know that this ground coffee is one of a large-ish range of own brand ground coffees that regularly feature in promotions such as "buy two bags for £3". This particular variety is, in my opinion, the best of the varieties of coffees that qualify for the promotion.

The coffee is described as "Continental blend". Quite what that actually means in practise I don't know; but, I can say that the coffee has an unusual combination (for a "high street" ground coffee) of being both smooth to drink but also full bodied. I tend to find that with readily available ground coffees, there is something of a compromise (possibly/probably favouring the mass market) of smooth roast coffee with only a medium bodied flavour. This coffee delivers a real kick and is therefore excellent for first thing in the morning or to be enjoyed slowly during the weekend.

The only other observation I feel compelled to add is that the blend appears to be consistent (at least has been for the many months I have been drinking it). Sometimes with generic blends or flavours, these can change with the season; but this coffee has proven to be consistently good.
