Advantages: Cheap, pleasant tasting

Disadvantages: Tendency to go flat far to quickly

I love bitter lemon drinks and as a gin lover I do like to use it as a mixer as well. When I saw this at 33p a bottle in my local Sainsbury's I decided to give it a whirl considering I usually pay about 89p a litre for Schweppes's and the like!

The Packaging....

1 litre plastic see through plastic bottle with a light silver twist on/off lid to the top of it and it has white and silver label around the middle of it. On the front of course I'm told it is Sainsbury's 'Diet' Bitter Lemon and told it only contains natural flavours and there is an at a glance nutritional pye chart on there. Then around the back of the bottle I'm given a list of ingredients and allergy advice, nutritional information and storage instructions are given as are contact details for Sainsbury's, size being stated and there being a bar-code on there. nice enough packaging which doesn't scream it's cheap or owt and does contain enough information on there to decide if you want to purchase it or not really!

The Drink....

Slightly fizzy and a murky yellow colour... this is lovely and has a summery feel to it. It does lose it's fizz after being open for half an hour and once the bottle is opened it goes flat pretty much the same day however whilst it is still 'fresh' it's really is great. Not too sweet or bubbly this is really tasty, tangy and slightly sour and tasting of lemons rather than in your face bitter. It's great on it's own or as a mixer the only problem I have with it is as I say that it does tend to go flat fairly quickly and if you add ice that makes it too watery so your best to chill this and not add ice if you can help it.

The flavour though is distinctive and it looks like bitter lemon too and in my view is a refreshing drink no matter how you decide to consume it!

Only available in Sainsbury stores.
