Advantages: Great Taste, Good Price, Delicious With Breakfast Or Any Time Of Day.

Disadvantages: Slight Chemical Smell When Opening Carton.

I purchased this product instead of my normal Tropicana saving myself almost £1.50 on a 1 litre carton.

This product is 56p a litre at present and is an absolute bargain!

It is basic packaging, a standard juice carton with the Sainsbury's basics logo all over it and telling you that it is orange juice made from concentrate.

Upon opening the plastic milk carton style packaging there is a slight chemical smell but you can also smell oranges which is obviously a good start! The juice is smooth with absolutely no bits and looks a little watery when poured out in a glass. The juice smells just like oranges once out of the carton.

When tasting the product I notice that it is indeed very smooth and has an almost sour kick to it, if you have a mouth ulcer this is definitely not the product for you! It does not taste completely like oranges, there is a slight after taste left by the product but for a concentrated juice it is about as good as can be expected.

A "serving" is 200ml I believe (based on the calorie information) and contains around 84 calories, it is also a good source of your RDA of vitamin C.

As Basic products go this isn't too bad at all, it's not Tropicana but then it is basically 1/4 of the price so I wouldn't expect it to be! The difference mainly is that Tropicana Pure is not made from concentrate so naturally this product isn't going to directly compare in taste.

I would recommend this product if you want a cheap juice for breakfast or something to mix up a cocktail with. It does contain quite a lot of sugar but then Tropicana Pure has 20% of your daily allowance of sugars in one "serving".

I would recommend this product, you get what you pay for with Basics and as orange juice goes you could probably do a lot worse than this. However, if you want something that tastes more fruity I would recommend either buying a premium brand or using a high concentrated fruit squash.

I have rated this product 4/5 and would have given it a 5/5 had it not had a chemical smell upon opening the carton.

Don't forget that the carton can be recycled in around 90% of the UK.

Summary: Another Fantastic Basics Product.

I quite like their value apple juice, but really didn't like this, I'd prefer to pay that bit extra for something decent :)
