Good luck if you bring these home, honestly I wouldn't recommend them!

Just to clarify this review is about the Fruit Slurp pouches.

I'm wearing half the drink and the other half is all over the kid! Usually we buy the brand name version of this product ... am I allowed to say it??? Oh well here you go ... Capri Sun. The only reason I bought the Sainsbury's version was because the summer berries flavour wasn't available. My son decided he'd try the blackcurrant flavour of these drinks.

Normally with drinks like these you'd just rip off the straw and stab it into the designated spot and away you go which is great for children (and parents) on the go. The problem with these particular pouches is that they have you rip or cut off the corner and your straw is in there. With the younger of my children he took the pouch in his little hands and that little amount of pressure sent the juice shooting out and all over the place. My eldest one kept having to fish his straw out of the pouch. I sent one to school in a lunch box and at the end of the day it was still there. I asked him why he'd not had a drink on what was a hot summer day. His response was "I couldn't open it so I got the lunch ladies to get me a cup of water from the kitchen."

Trying not to sound lazy here but I like drinks that I can leave in the kitchen and let the kids help themselves and thus I can get on with what I need to be doing so easy and mess free is a must!

Guess I should tell you a bit about the taste. I hadn't actually tried one until today but for this review I'll grab one and give it a go. I'm not a huge fan of blackcurrant as a rule so this may be a bit biased. It was ok ... I'm not really sure what else to say other than I wouldn't have it again. I like things with more bang in the taste and it was rather bland. I asked my eldest to describe the taste to me and in typical leave me along mom fashion he said "it's blackcurrant!" so not overly helpful!

According to Mysupermarket.co.uk (15/07/2011) these pouches are available in packs of 10 for £2.09. Other flavours include Apple and Summer Fruits.

Good luck if you bring these home, honestly I wouldn't recommend them!
