Advantages: Good packaging, nice taste, gave me additional energy.
Disadvantages: Sugary.
I have my days when I feel like I have no energy and I recently discovered Lucozade Sport drinks which are around 90p in my local store. I spotted this Sainsbury's Isotonic Sports Drink on the shelf near the Lucozade and decided to pick one up to give it a try.
The bottle is a clear plastic bottle with a pull up lid. You need to squeeze the bottle to get a nice blast of the orange flavoured drink.
This is a still, orange, drink with added sugar, sweeteners and B Vitamins. As soon as I try the first mouthful I get a lovely, sweet, sugary taste. This drink is quite thirst quenching but after around half a bottle I found that it sits a little heavy in my tummy and I don't want to drink anymore so switch back to water.
I took the second half of my bottle with me when walking to my fiance's and I found that I did have a little increased energy and I'm not sure whether this was the effects of the drink or just psychological! Whatever it was it did seem to work and for 45p per 500ml I was quite pleased.
The drink was pretty nice, if a little sickly, and the price was very reasonable. I would not say that this was as nice as Lucozade Sport but it seemed to work just as well and on the days when I need a pick-me-up I will no doubt pick this up again.
There are 138 calories & 20.6g of sugar per drink so this should be enjoyed in moderation to avoid sugar related illnesses and too much rotting of the teeth! There is no fat and only a trace of salt so this is good.
I am going to rate this 4/5. It was a pretty nice drink and one that I felt made a difference to my energy levels. This makes it worth while in my book and I would definitely recommend it.
Summary: A delicious isotonic soft drink that I believe gave me a little boost.
