Advantages: Nice lemon taste, low in calories
Disadvantages: None for us
We hardly ever shop in Sainsburys but the other day after visiting Marks family we called into one on the way home as we needed a couple of things, while we were in there we picked up a bottle of their own brand sugar free lemonade. We don't drink that much lemonade but occasionally we do buy a bottle.
The Packaging
Sainsburys diet lemonade is sold in the usual clear plastic bottle with a screw top lid that is typical for this type of product. The bottle has a plastic silver label around the middle which has Diet Lemonade by Sainsburys written across it, the front of the label also gives the GDA's which are given per 250ml. The label also informs the customer that the flavourings have been made from natural sources.
The back of the label gives the ingredients, more detailed nutritional information and a little bit about the drink, this is all clear and easy to read for those who wish to.
Price and Availability
Well obviously this in only available in Sainsburys and is currently selling for 65p for a 2 litre bottle, its also sold in a 1 litre bottle which costs 45p, It is also sold in a non diet version too.
My Opinion.
I have tried many own brand cheaper lemonades and generally the actual lemon taste is either missing or very un natural. When I removed the lid from the Sainsburys lemonade and gave it a quick sniff I was very pleased to find that there was actually a nice lemony smell coming from the bottle which smelt reasonably real.
I poured a glass of lemonade and tried it. Sainsburys lemonade is nice and fizzy and has a lovely sweet lemon flavour, not in the same league as Schweppes lemonade but very good for an own brand product, I found it very refreshing. It isn't watery and doesn't leave a nasty taste in my mouth either.
All in all for an own brand sugar free lemonade this is very good and one I would recommend. It makes a lovely long fizzy refreshing drink either on its own or mixed half and half with orange juice, it also makes a nice mixer and goes very well with vodka.
If lemonade is your thing either as a soft or alcoholic drink I would certainly recommend trying this one, its a good price, has a nice lemony flavour and is low on calories, just 3 for a single serving, making ideal for those trying to shed a few pounds or on a sugar free diet.
Summary: A nice diet lemonade
