Sainsbury's Omnigrind Origin Coffee French Style with Chicory
227g

It is true that coffee is fine the way it is without any flavors, yet I always have this urge to try new things and Sainsbury's Omnigrind Origin Coffee French Style with Chicory was one of them. The 227g bag is sold in Sainsbury's for £1.95 which is definitely good value for money, but I bought it for less when I benefited from the buy two for £3 offer.

All you have to do is store this bag in a cool dry place, but once opened it should be refrigerated and consumed within six weeks. This is why it is provided with metalized tin tie which has side tabs that you fold back to keep your coffee airtight. To prepare it in a coffee machine, use one rounded dessert spoonful per cup. As for cafetiers, please read the instructions on the bag.

Chicory (Cichorium intybus) is one of the things that used to be roasted and consumed as a substitute for coffee at the times when the latter became costly or unavailable. However, unlike coffee, chicory does not contain caffeine and it is reported to improve the health of the liver.

Sainsbury's Coffee French Style with Chicory contains 45% chicory and it smells really nice both in the bag and after being prepared. The taste is lighter than that of pure coffee, but it is still good. Replacing your usual coffee with this one might be a good idea if you want to limit the consumption of caffeine and still enjoy the flavor, yet, for me I still prefer the strong taste of pure coffee and I need something stronger to wake up.

Other variations you can choose from if you want to benefit from the buy two for £3 offer from Sainsbury's:

1. Sainsbury's After Dinner Ground Coffee, for All Machines
2. Sainsbury's All Day Long Ground Coffee, for All Machines
3. Sainsbury's Coffee Beans, Premium Blend
4. Sainsbury's Continental Coffee Beans
5. Sainsbury's Decaffeinated Blend Coffee Beans
6. Sainsbury's Italian Roasted and Ground Coffee
7. Sainsbury's Omnigrind Coffee, Continental
8. Sainsbury's Omnigrind Coffee, Decaffeinated
9. Sainsbury's Coffee Viennese Style & Fig Seasoning
10. Sainsbury's Premium Blend Ground Cafetiere Coffee
11. Sainsbury's Premium Blend Ground Filter Coffee

Summary: Chicory as a coffee substitute.
