... about it's flavour. The box is very attractive & stylish & has a perforated opening which keeps the bags fresh. As soon as you open them the fragrance really hits the spot - a strong smell of bergamot with an underlying one of tea. I was surprised to see they are round as opposed to the Twinings square ones & about half full in strong bags. It's suggested that you use 1 bag or adding '1 to the pot' if using a teapot & allow to brew for 3-5 minutes. I found this made a good strong cuppa (which is how I lik...more

Premium Review Sainsbury's Taste the Difference Earl Grey Tea: not quite my cuppa (372 words)

Hubby & older daughter popped into Sainsbury's yesterday with a quickly-scribbled shopping list to which I added Earl Grey. As we're all for 'down-branding' wherever possible I was pleased to see they'd chosen Sainsbury's Taste the Diffrence Earl Grey which only cost £2.19 (for a box of 100) as opposed to the normal Twinings ones at £3.37. I love my Earl Grey first thing in the morning & around teatime as I can enjoy it in peace & relative tranquility (dog asleep!) & although it's more expensive than other sorts I think there's something special about it's flavour. The box is very attractive & stylish & has a perforated ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Only earl grey will do, i can taste the difference! (290 words)

I know a lot of people think earl grey should be drank with lemon, but im just not one of them. I love the fresh lemony zing you get from a cup of earl grey but also like the consistency of a normal 'brew' as we say here in Lancashire. Ive tried a few brands of earl grey and this one is up there with the best of them. Price: £1.39 for 50 tea bags. Compared to other brands such as twinnings this is reasonably price. What makes me 'taste the difference'? I often find that earl grey can taste a little perfumed. As a said before i like the citrus notes in earl grey but hate perfume. Thats why i like this variety so much. The box says ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Sainsbury's Taste the Difference Earl Grey Tea: Own Brand tea, it's cheap but will it make you cheerful? (161 words)

The great appeal of these is the price for example, 100 tea bags (2.19), 50 tea bags (1.39) compared to twinnings 100 tea bags (3.37) 50 tea bags (2.29). Sainsbury's range includes tea bags (50 and 100), loose leaf (125g) and decaffeinated tea bags (50). So the taste: They have a sweeter taste than twinnings earl grey. They produce a light tea (which is normal for earl grey), and they have a very delicate smell. To drink I do not find them as nice as the twinnings range and they have a slightly bitter after taste, which is unusual for Earl Grey. I do find that Earl Grey relaxes me more than the normal leaf, but I would also suggest that ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Earl Grey Loose Leaf Tea. Very nice (181 words)

I only recently strayed from the "bog standard" tea bags we have always used at home. I was finding that the milk I put in my tea was making me feel a little off colour, so thought I would try some of my mum's tea. I have tried her herbal teas in the past, but found them to be no more than hot water with a nice smell. I found Earl Grey loose leaf tea to be very nice. It is stronger than herbal teas, but more delicate than tea bags like Tetleys or PG. It's not as easy to make a cuppa with loose leaf tea as there are always a few little bits that escape the infuser and drifdt into your cup, so be careful of the last mouthful. I tend to put about half a ...  Read the complete review
