... brewery has produced this ale just to keep up with the competition. Their heart doesn't seem to be in it. Smiths have a great reputation for some fine ales - I particularly like their Imperial Stout and Nut Brown Ale. The Organic Best looks good with a nice head and clear amber colour, but that's about it. The flavour was flat bordering on the tasteless. It should have at least stood up well against good standard IPA e.g. Abbot or other organic ales - Shepherd Neame do a very nice one. Please stick to what you do best Sam ...more

I have to admit that I have only sampled a few mouthfuls of this ale at a Christmas fare where a range of Sam Smiths beers were on offer. I like my beer strong and full flavoured and was rather disappointed with this offering. I can't help thinking that the brewery has produced this ale just to keep up with the competition.
