Sakara King - When it comes to booze, the Egyptians are secretly hammerheads. There is no end of grubby little pubs in Downtown Cairo and approaches for you to buy people alcohol from the shop during religious holidays (when it's illegal for Egyptians to buy alcohol and they check your passport, although as an extremely white Brit that's not necessary in my case!) is a common occurrence.

To compliment their extremely dangerous versions of spirits they have this lethal 10% beer called Sakara King. The curiosity got the better of me and I decided I have to give this a go, I often find the design of a beer can or bottle important and it must have been the golden pyramid that got to me because it wasn't long before I was pouring myself a reasonably cold Sakara King.

I expected the beer to resemble motor oil but it was surprisingly golden and the white head on top ensured that it looked no different from your average European lager. I notice that the fizz and head were disappearing quickly, so soon got stuck in. Flavour wise there is not a lot going on, it's a little bit sweet and I guess I got a hint of malt but apart from that it was largely the extremely harsh and overpowering added alcohol content that was noticeable. Probably best avoided!

Summary: Not a beverage to be proud of!
