When I went up to Scotland I purchased 2 Bottles of malt whisky and received a presentation box containing 6 Double matured malt whiskies in miniature. These are: 1) Glenkinchie 2) Dalwhinnie 3) Cragganmore 4) Oban 5) Talisker 6) Lagavulin These are from each of the 6 distilleries in Scotland. 1) This is from the Lowlands. It is a mixture of sweet and dry flavours, and is finished in Amontillado cask-wood. The taste is very intense and smooth. Anyone who has drunk a fine scotch or a single malt knows that a drop of water (preferably highland spring water)far from drowning the flavours, actually enhances them. Some years ago I was in the fortunate position to be able to afford to buy some "First Cask" single malt whiskies and with every bottle came a bottle of highland spring water with the instructions to add "A wee drop". I have enjoyed scotch for ten or twelve years now and although there is no bad scotch some are better than others, perhaps! I love to try different scotch but in general I stick to single malts as opposed to blends though Chivas Regal is rather nice. I have for the last few month sampled the CLASSICS and must admit they are Ummmmm, nothing short of pure magic. At the moment I am half way through a bottle of Glenkinchie which is a lowland malt. It has a special taste to it, nice and fresh with a slight tang. There aren't many distilleries in the lowlands, two I think. I rate this 8/10 I love the Speyside malts and the ...
