Refreshing Summer Cider (Scrumpy Jack)

I hadn't had Scrumpy Jack for ages until very recently. I decided I was in the mood for some cider while the weather was really hot last weekend, and was torn between a four pack of Scrumpy Jack and a four pack of Strongbow while I was in Tesco. They were both around the same price, £3 for four cans, but Scrumpy Jack won the fight for having the higher acohol content!

This is described as being a dry cider, and I think it's important to appreciate that it's got a dry taste to it but that it's still really refreshing. I love the strong, crisp apple taste of this brand, and that it's strong and fruity without being too sweet. I do like sweet things, but not so much in my alcohol.

This is 6% volume so it's the kind of alcohol that you need to drink in moderation really. It's not like a 3% lager that you can sit around drinking can after can of. This is such a satisfying drink though that I don't feel the need to drink lots of it. In fact during our barbecue last Sunday, I only drank two cans of this over a two hour period which is good going for me.

Scrumpy is produced in Hereford using select apples to make sure it maintains a similar taste in every batch. It contains sulphates so it's not that much different to a lot of the pre-packaged shelf ciders, but it's certainly one of the nicer tasting ones.
