Shakeaway, for those who have never visited the stores, is a shop that specialises in making milkshakes . Not just your bog standard strawberry, banana and chocolate flavours, but a whole huge array of different combinations .As you go in, you'll see a large array of sweet treats lined up - skittles, jaffa cakes, peanut butter cups . These aren't to be eaten with the milkshake - these are to chuck into the milkshake . There is also a board listing all the various things you can have put in your shake.
The store itself if quite small, and is usually too packed for me to get a seat in there - not that I'd really want to, as the noise level from the blenders and teenagers all hyped up on sugar is a little much . So I tend to opt for a take-away, as there is plenty of seating outside in the market square, and it makes the ideal place to people watch on a sunny day . The decoration of the store is, in my opinion, not terribly imaginative - there isn't anything that makes this place stand out really, apart from the bright yellow menu boards, the rest of the décor is just dull.
I tend to vary my shakes every time I visit - there are so many choices that I don't think I'll ever get through them all.. I will say that they are quite expensive, with regular shakes starting at 2.70 and large at 3.70 .
I think the nicest milkshake I tried would be Peanut Butter Cups - lovely sweet chocolate flavour, with an underlying salty nuttiness, very thick, and with plenty of gloop left at the bottom at the end . Luckily, the straws have little spoons on the end so you can scoop this up . I have to say the shake was very filling, I had a regular and struggled to finish it! I also don't expect these shakes are going to be very healthy at all, and they are certainly best as an occasional treat.
I'm trying to work up the guts to try Weetabix and rhubarb milkshakes soon - Really not sure how well rhubarb will work in a shake, but I'm keen to find out .
Overall, Cookie shake is a fun treat every now and then . They are filling, and almost a meal in themselves, and they are quite expensive. Not something I could personally manage every day, but a couple of times a month is more than enough for me!
3 stars - taking some off for not enough seating and lack of atmosphere in the Nottingham branch.
