Advantages: Tasty, very refreshing, light

Disadvantages: Overly gaseous

This lunchtime I had a list of errands to run as long as my arm and only an hour in which to complete them, after wasting most of this time in the post office I dashed into Boots to grab a drink and some snacks as I had eaten a salad at work but knew I would need something to get me through the afternoon.

Usually I am a proper diet coke addict and would have always grabbed this as a failsafe - but I had just wolfed a bottle prior to leaving the office and fancied something different so I opted for this sparkling spring water flavoured with summer fruits. Firstly I checked that it would not affect my dieting and was pleased to find that as with diet coke it contains no added sugars or additives, just sweeteners (I know all the arguments about aspartame etc but for my diet I just have to compromise on this).

The price was 90p although it is also part of the meal deal range so had I been buying it as part of a meal it would have worked out a bit cheaper. As this is around (slightly less in fact) what I would expect to pay for a same size (500ml) bottle of diet coke I was none too bothered about the price.

I have to say that on tasting this I was very impressed with how refreshing and light it tasted. The summer fruits flavours are not overbearing, you can tell this is a spring water based drink, it is very thirst quenching and on a particularly hot day like today it was just the ticket for satisfying my lunchtime thirst attack.

The sparkling aspect was one of the only things that bothered me about this drink, it was particularly gaseous on opening and was making me feel the need to burp (not a very ladylike habit!) so I got round this by shaking the bottle and slowly releasing the gas a couple of times which took the kick out of the sparkle. I suppose that is just personal taste and you might like your sparkling drinks with more of a fizz, but for me it was perfect after I had subdued the fizz a little.

I notice they do a whole range of other flavours in this particular brand and I would definitely try the others, I could see a cranberry one and an orange one when I picked mine, but I chose this flavour as it sounded nice and summery. The picture on the bottle is of mixed berries, I would say the overriding flavour in my opinion is definitely raspberries.

I would definitely choose to have this drink again, especially if I was buying a Boots meal deal, it is tasty, very refreshing and light in calories, perfect for the diet conscious consumer.

An added bonus is that the bottle is recyclable and also reusable, personally I am going to keep mine on my desk to re-fill with water from the cooler in this weather to keep me nice and chilled and hydrated.

Summary: A great thirst quenching drink which is part of the meal deal offer too
