Shepherd Neame Spitfire:
... reviewing Shepherd Neame’s wonderful Bishops Finger I was reminded that I really ought to give one of their other famous brews a mention. Here is my opinion on Spitfire, another Premium Ale from the Kent brewer. ~~~THE BREWERY. A long time ago (in 1698 to be exact) brewing started at the Shepherd Neame Brewery. The company was started, in Faversham in Kent, by Captain Richard Marsh (the Mayor of Faversham).... Read the full review: Beer Mugs at Three O'clock! by tange |

Shepherd Neame Bishops Finger ... had already almost written this review a while ago, but got sidetracked, so I decided to continue with it. This was primarily because I had finally found out what the name of the beer meant, but also because it IS a classic beer worthy of a write-up! So, here is my review of Shepherd Neame’s Classic premium ale; the wonderfully named Bishops Finger. ~~~THE BREWERY. Shepherd Neame call themselves the oldest brewery in Britain. Their claim has some substance because the company was actually started way, way back in the mists of time…well, 1698 to be precise. Based in Faversham in Kent, Shepherd Neame was founded by the then Mayor (Captain Richard Marsh). Kent is well ... Read the full review: Pontifex Finxi! by tange |

Shepherd Neame Goldings ... weather! I'll carry on regardless and tell you about a beer I sampled last week when it WAS hot and sunny and it WASN'T raining! It was Chesterfield's annual Medieval Market and my mum and I decided to have lunch in the Rutland Arms (one of our few decent Real Ale pubs). This is where I decided that I needed something refreshing ~ so I settled on a hoppy little number from the Shepherd Neame brewery. Shepherd Neame are based at Faversham in Kent and are reputed to be on a site where continuous brewing has taken place for the longest time ~ thus making them Britain's oldest brewer. The records show that brewing of some sort has occurred there si... Read the full review: Hop Over to Kent! by tange |

Shepherd Neame Spitfire ... men. That is to say, men who wear cardigans and slippers, drink real ale. As has been proved scientifically (i.e a bloke down the pub said) real men like it warm and flat. (Eh now! Behave!) After a recent visit from my soon to be father-in-law, I was summarily told that all southern beer is pointless, as it has no head and tastes far too much of hops. (He's from Manchester) I was shocked at this dismissal of hundreds of years of brewing tradition and on the return visit a week later (hold on that makes visiting the in laws sound like a cup game - oh well), I decided that I should test his theory. In true man to man bonding style, we went for a swift pint while... Read the full review: Beer of Blighty. by Pjenkins |
