Advantages: Lovely flavours, not over the top

Disadvantages: It's still buying bottled water!

I'm one of those people who really don't see the point in bottled water. I find it rather funny, in a way, that our drinking water is treated to make it not only drinkable, but to give it the necessarily nutrients to make it good for us as well.

As a result, while I do get bottled water on occasion, for trips, etc, I'll only buy it otherwise if it's flavoured in some way. One of my flavoured waters of choice is the range called Perfectly Clear, from Silverspring. There are a variety of flavours, and while I haven't managed to try them all yet, the ones I have tried have been very nice in taste.

My latest tipple is the lemon & lime one, which, like the other flavours, has a more subtle rather than strong flavour. Of course, lemons and limes have never seen this bottle, as the drink relies on flavourings to complement the taste you get. Other brands of flavoured water, such as Marks & Spencer's ones, have a rather harsh flavour to them and I don't enjoy them so much. I would much rather go for this brand instead.

Other flavours seem quite random, with Red Apple surprisingly nice (a bit like watered down apple juice but with full flavour), and The Strawberry and Kiwi one quite a nice one, albeit the sweetest of the range.

Nutritionally, the calories are very low, with a 500ml bottle only having just under 7 calories. There's no sugar, which is a bonus, as other flavoured waters rely on this for sweetening purposes. However, there is a trace of phenylalanine, which isn't so good.

The bottle is clear, as is the drink, with the pop-top allowing you to push it down an reseal it, making it easier to drink than a screw top bottle. The logo is quite appealing, so the marketing and advertising guys have done a good job on this front, too.

Overall, I would recommend at least giving these a go. I appreciate that when it comes to flavoured waters, a lot of it is down to personal taste. I suppose that is the case with most food and drink, though, and you should try for yourself. As for me, I'm happy to carry on drinking these, and at around a pound for a bottle, it fits in with the price ranges of other such drinks, so you're not paying over the odds for the range.

Summary: A good range of bottled waters

Our water might be treated to make it drinkable but it still tastes awful in some parts of the country..... I like the Strawberry and Kiwi one of these :-) xx
