Advantages: Tasty and low in calories
Disadvantages: not the nicest low cal hot chocolate
If you saw me walking down the street, 'Skinny cow' would not be the first thing your mind would conjure, of that i am certain. However, the intention to be a skinny cow is one i very much have, and was what i had in mind when i brought these hot chocolates.
Now, lets face it. Hot chocolate is best with lashings of whipped cream, pieces of flake and marshmallows. However, in the calorie crazed world we all need to keep the intake down every now and again, and these might be just the thing.
Packaging
~~~~~~~
Skinny cow hot chocolate comes in a 200g container which is shaped a little like an hourglass. The lid is sealed both on the outside with plastic and on the inside with a paper covering.
The label says 'skinny cow' on a script with a picture of a kind of scaring looking cow, laying down with a tape-measure around her waist. The rest of the container has a cow print .
Taste
~~~~~
When i went to get these they were on special offer so i brought both flavours available; instant indulgent chocolate flavour, and the mint flavour.
Personally, the chocolate was my favourite. Quick and easy to stir rather than the laboured effort required with some of these 'instant' hot chocolates. Also, it had a nice frothy coating which added to the flavour. For the 37 calorie count, the taste is surprisingly chocolaty. Personally, i think it tasted better with a little drop of skimmed milk just to make it a little creamier.
The mint is also very nice. Not as harsh as it can be with some hot chocolates but tasted more like melted mint choc-chip ice-cream. Again, a snip at only 37 calories.
However, watch the fat count. At 1.5g and 1g of sats this is very low, but would still notice if you drink loads of them!
Verdict?
~~~~~
These are a yummy and tasty version of low calorie hot chocolates. However, i dont think they are quite as tasty as options. Also, i got them for £1.50 on special offer but are quite a bit more normally so not the cheapest option. Also (and this is probably for another review) but i think Nestle are one of the most unethical companies on the planet. Had i realised these were Nestle at the time they wouldn't of even made it in the basket.
However, these are nice and warming for this time of the year and very low on the calorie count.
Summary: ... i think ill stick to my options, more choice of flavours too!
