Advantages: None
Disadvantages: Its all just wrong
The skinny cow range is designed to be low fat, taken from the name that we call thin women we are generally insanely jealous of. I do try and be healthy and im actually not a lover of chocolate particularly,
but i must admit that i am partial to a mug of hot chocolate in the evenings during Corrie.
I always do go for the low fat versions which uses hot wateri nstead of milk, so as not take my daily calore intake into astronimical numbers. Im normally quite partial to the Options range that offers alot of flavour choices and contains around the same amount of calories and fat per mug as this brand(37kcal and 1.5 gram of fat). The Skinny Cow as far as i know is supposed to have a very good reputation and so when i saw this on offer in my local Tescos's i thought i would give this one a go.
The drink would normally cost me £2.80 making it similar in price to the other drinks of the same size tub,but as i said i bought it on offer at half price. Instructions were to just add water as the sweetners were already in there and i assume so was some kind of milk powder. On opening the tub it definatly had more the bitter smell of proper hot chocolate
that you add milk too and not as sweet smelling as others i have had in the past. I also noticed the powder is very dark, i assumed it may actually have a higher chocolate content. I put in my 2 heaped spoonfuls and added the hot (but not boiling water) and left for 2 minutes to cool down as with no milk it is extremely hot.
When i went to sit down and enjoy my drink infront of the telly after a hard day and trying desperatly to stave off sugar cravings, i was disappointed to find all my mixture sunk to the bottom and all was there was the really watery, horribe brown reminents of a chocolate drink on the top. I gave it a good stir again and took another sip, expecting this to have done the trick. It didnt, it was just a faintly chocolatey, watery, miserable excuse for a drink. It didnt make me think 'mmmmmmm lovely' as i get with my faithful Options and i felt the need to add alot of sugar and alot of milk. If i had done that maybe it would have tasted better, however im buying this drink to save on calories and fat.
It was plain undrinkable in my humble opinion, when i decide to have a hot chocolate instead of diving for the biscuits after a stressful day and i dont want the scales to go off the chart the next day, i still want to feel like i have had my fix and this simply does not do that.
The tub went in the bin i wouldnt offend another woman with such an inadequate chocolate high and i will definatly be sticking to what i know in future. I am yet to try another of the Skinny Cow's other products but i have to say this has put me off wasting my money again, but we shall see.
Summary: You might as well have a glass of water
