Advantages: Nice flavour, refreshing, no caffeine
Disadvantages: Sugary, not the tastiest of drinks
Although I am mostly a Coca Cola, Coke Zero, Schweppes Lemonade or orange juice drinker, I do sometimes like a change and occasionally I buy a bottle of Sprite to keep in the fridge.
Sprite is a fizzy drink with 'real lemon and lime flavour'. It tastes very much like either lemonade or 7UP, but with a nice lime edge to it that makes it a bit less sour and dry tasting than those drinks. The lemon and lime blend well together and make it quite a refreshing drink, especially if it's ice cold and has lost a little of its fizz so doesn't get up your nose too much.
My own favourite way to drink Sprite is with a shot of Jack Daniels, a wedge of lime and a lot of ice! The flavour of the Sprite blends really nicely with the whiskey and the lime, and creates a tasty, warming, slightly spicy drink. Scrummy!
Unlike most other fizzy drinks, Sprite has no caffeine, and no artificial colours. A 250 ml serving has no fat in at all which is good news, although it does have 109 calories and a huge 26.4 grams of sugar, so it is not to be drunk non-stop all day!
Sprite comes in clear green bottles with bright blue labels and blue screw tops, and even looks refreshing! A 2 litre bottle can be bought for £1.56 at Sainsbury's or most other supermarkets. A pack of 6 330 ml cans costs £2.64 and a 500 ml bottle costs £0.97, though these are currently on offer at Sainsbury's and so can be purchased for £1.60 for 2.
You can also buy Sprite Zero if you want a less sugary version of the drink, but I've not tried that so cannot comment on it.
Summary: Nice for a change
