Disadvantages: Bad press has led to Stella Artois being viewed in a derogatory way

Stella Artois is the premium beer from Belgium and has been sol din the UK for years. It is made from water, hops, yeast, unmalted cereals and malted barley and has quite a strong taste to it for a beer.

You can buy it in bottles, cans or by the pint in most bars, restaurants, supermarkets and off licences.

Being the premium Belgium beer when it came to the UK it was hoped to add an air of sophistication to beer drinking. Unfortunately as it has a high percentage of 5.2% (high compared with many other beers) it became popular with people hoping to get drunk quickly and soon became known as just Stella.

There have also been reports of people becoming overly aggressive after drinking Stella and it became known as a wife beater's beer. All this bad press has not done much to uphold the sophisticated branding that promoters had hoped for and now Stella Artois has quite a bad reputation in the UK which is a shame and only down to an irresponsible few.
