Advantages: great taste, great quality
Disadvantages: Costs a little more
Stella Artois, the belgian Premium lager, that has lost a bit of its original kick of late, used to be 5.2%, then suddenly, and somewhat out of the blue from my perspective, reduced down to 5.0% overnight.
Stella has for many years had the 'Wife Beater' nickname attched to it, although from my own personal drinking experience of it, I think this is unjustified, as I have never experienced any anger effects, even after a full night on the 'Stella'.
~Options ~
Stella is available from most off licences, supermarkets, pubs, bars and restaurants, in the following forms:
Bottles:
284ml (half pint)
330ml
568 (pint)
Cans:
440ml
500ml
568ml (Pint)
On Pump
284ml (half pint)
568ml (pint)
Stella comes in a green bottle, or a white can.
I find the taste of stella, is very unique, compared with other lagers, for example if I was blind folded, and was given a sample pf serveral lagers, Im very confident that I could identify the strong, Barley taste of Stella, whereas I would have no chance of distinguishing the difference between carling, fosters, carlserg etc.
~Cost~
Stella is a premium lager, and therfore costs a premium price. However, bearing in mind that it is 1% Alc Vol stronger than most lagers, the 30p (on average) a pint extra is more than made up for.
Most supermarkets regularly have multibuy offers on Stella, which brings the cost in line with other non-premium lagers.
Of late I have noticed that Stella Artois seem to be making an effort to be environmentally friendly, by putting a statement on their bottles and cans as follows
'Stella Artois cans are, on average, made from 50% recycled material. Help us to increase this b recycling this can'.
I think this is a very good attempt to help drinkers think more about recycling.
Overall, I really like Stella, and I would like to see the 'wife beater' stigma disappear, as I regard it as complete rubbish.
Summary: One of the best tasting Lagers out there
