Advantages: not a bad lager
Disadvantages: too expensive for what it is
Belgium has to be one of the best countries for brewing lager and beer in the world. But Stella Artois is not exactly amoung the best to come out of Belgium. I have to say that the advertising campaign in this country makes me laugh. "Reassuningly expensive"....only in Britain, where they have pushed up the price because it is on of the only Belgian beers that is produced here. In Belgium, Stella rates as one of the cheapest beers, on a par with others such as Jupiler, which is also produced by the same brewery, and Cristal, that are actually nicer, but you can't get here. In this country the closest you'll get to good Belgian beer is Duvel, which is much nicer than Stella but much less freely available. Also a final point, the Stella that you buy here, isn't Belgian, it's brewed in England and although they say that the recipe is the same, it isn't, Stella in Belgium is nicer and much, much cheaper.

- 09/09/01 Sorry for the SU again vjt, I notice from your profile that you haven't read too many ops around the site. I recommend that you perhaps check out the hints and tips for new writers section - the more effort you put in to your ops, the more ratings you will get and the higher those ratings will be. |

- 08/09/01 Good opinion, what you speak is right, but for a lager that tastes better than most others available in britain, do u think it deserves a bit more than just 2 stars? |
