Advantages: Crisp and refreshing, tasty

Disadvantages: Pricey

Well seeing as how I haven’t done a good booze opinion for a while I thought I’d do one on my very favourite beer.
So what is my favourite booze? Well being a total ‘Hey Mel there’s a buy one, get one free special offer, let’s grab some before they sell out’ cheapskate, it just had to be one of the most expensive beers available didn’t it? Stella Artois, although I wouldn’t personally carry some whining old fart across a flowing river or fix some Joe Blogg’s roof for a mere pint of the stuff (As in the adverts), I’d definitely shell out that little bit extra to purchase some.

Here are my findings:

!!!! Packaging !!!!

The recyclable aluminium can’s or bottle labels are pure white with a large red and white Stella Artios badge in the middle, this is surrounded by lots of fancy gold writing and periodical designs, kind of adds to the regal experience. Although it boasts being ‘Belgium’s premium continental lager’ it is in fact brewed in the UK.
On this side of the can is the statement ‘For maximum refreshment, serve cold’ <Clicks fingers> And I was planning on warming it up in the microwave too.

!!!! Taste, Look, Smell and Pour !!!!

Well, on opening my can to the sound of a large silent but deadly botty burp, I began my pour into the only pint glass I own (Which happens to have pictures of Mickey Mouse all over it, blame Mel).
Pouring from an angle, I watched and drooled as the golden bubble filled liquid filled up the glass and as the can emptied, it left a generous creamy white head on the surface, (No innuendo meant).
The wonderful ‘hoppy’ smell is coupled with a strong lager stench and if you're into a nice pint of lager (as I am), then this bring home the memories of wandering through the fields of Belgium with the sun shining down on my face and the sweet little birds tweeting overhead. Wa
it a minute? I’ve never even been to Belgium, let alone run through any fields and had sweet little birds tweeting over my head whilst holding a pint of Stella. Aw well, I’ve always been told I talk bollox so why should I change now?
Anyway, onto the best part, the taste test, well it’s not exactly a test as such seeing as I drink this stuff all the time but I have to exaggerate for the op. <Glug glug glug> Ahhhh! Does beer get any better than this? The taste is one of sheer orgasmic prowess, very distinctive, strong tasting, crisp and sharp on the tastebuds and beats any other lager by a country mile. It almost tastes like a Pils, strong and hoppy and very earthly, however, Stella Artios isn’t thick and treacle like as is the case with a Pils.
The amount of fizz is always an important factor where lager is concerned and Stella has the perfect amount. It isn't too fizzy but also it isn't flat and the lager does tend to keep its fizz for quite a while.
The only lager to even come close in my book is Carlsberg Export (Not the normal stuff which is rank) but even that falls short of my lovely, sexy Stella (Don’t I just have a way with words?)

!!!! Price and Availability !!!!

Well, As I have said, Stella Artios is probably the most expensive premium lager on the market, it is sold in dinky 275ml bottles (Usually about £4 for 10) or in 440ml cans (Around £1 each) and now it is sold (WAHEY!) in huge 568ml cans which I purchased for £5 for a four pack. It is usually about 10 or 12p dearer per pint than your average pint of Carlsberg or Carling in a pub but well worth it. Stella is one of Britain’s most popular beers and so is widely available from almost anywhere, although the supermarkets are usually the best bet as they sometimes have them on special offer.

!!!! Other Information !!!!

Stella Artios is (as far as I know) the strongest premium strength lager around, weighing i
n at a hefty 5.2% (a whole 1.1% stronger than Carling) it will no doubt hit you senses a lot faster than your average pint.
Each one of the large 568ml cans contains 3.0 units of alcohol and would directly put you over the limit to drive. Although this is Belgium lager, it is actually brewed in Luton (LUTON?) of all places, that just has to knock off at least one respect point. Otherwise, this stuff is faultless, 1-0 to the Belgians over the Brits for inventing this priceless stuff.
For anyone interested in finding out more about Stella Artios (Although apart from guzzling the stuff yourself there’s not much more you could possibly wish to know, unless you’re into trainspotting or birdwatching) here is the number to phone: 0870 24 111 24

Oh, by the way, I do apologise for the title, I know it's dreadful but it's my opinion so bollox!

As always, thanks for the read.

DEANO!

Still my favourite best consumed on a summers afternoon, cold winters night, fresh spring evening, an autumnal stroll, with a curry, by a log fire, by a burning house, whilst driving, breakfast the list is endless.
