One for me.. one more for me... oops and one for the in-laws! (Strongbow Jacques Fruit Cider)

Advantages: refreshingly fruity, alcaholic but not too strong

Disadvantages: too morish!

I stumbled across this drink in my local co-op. It was on special offer and I was ought buying in a few bits for an evening entertaining my mother and father in law. Knowing that Mothere in law likes cider, I thought that this might be a nice drink for her.

Now I am usually not a lover of cider ... i don't know if my sense of smell is warped (a possibility), but I always think cider smells slightly fishy (!). My husband thinks me very odd because of this, so will not take offence if you do too :). Anway, because of this bizarre association I have, I find it hard to stomach cider. However, being the trooper that I am (and in need of a drink pre in-law arrival) I duly opened the bottle of Jaques and poured myself a glass.

How pleasantly suprised I was ... no smell of fish, just a lovely fruitiness and wonderfully bubbly too. I drank that glass quite swiftly and a couple more (still saving a drop for m.i l.) and thoroughly enjoyed the refreshing drink. Obviously it has a kick, being alcaholic .... but not as strong as wine, which is good if you are cooking and need to keep focused.

All in all this is a great drink and I have bought several bottles since!
