Advantages: Nice taste, easy to drink
Disadvantages: A bit pricey, doesn't last long!
Jacques is an alcoholic drink, it's cider with fruit and recommended to be served over ice.
I tried this about a year ago on a recommendation from a friend and now it has become one of my favourite drinks.
When I think of cider I think of 14 year olds in a park with a bottle of White Lightening or Asda's Smart price cider so I was initially put off when my friend said it's cider but I was pleasantly surprised.
It tastes quite sweet and fruity, almost just like juice and alcohol but with a twist, very refreshing. It is more of a summer drink but nice in the winter to remind you of those summer evenings.
It comes in two sized bottles, the larger being available from most supermarkets and off licence's and is 750ml. It costs between £3.50 and £4 a bottle. A good price I believe and it can often be found of promotion in Tesco and Asda.
The bottle is quite wide and wide necked with Jacques incorporated into the glass. They have traditional colours of navy blue and white and in my opinion has a sort of sailor look about it but still looks classy.
My local pubs don't tend to stock this very often and it is very expensive when they do but this is to be expected really.
A 750ml bottle contains 4.1 units which is actually more than a woman's recommended daily allowance and just over a males so perhaps it should be drank in moderation. It is 5.5% volume so is quite strong. After drinking a whole bottle to myself I am quite away with it so can be a good night starter and an indicatation of how much you should drink depending how you choose to enjoy your alcohol.
One thing I have noticed about drinking this is does tend to make me quite tired if it's the only drink I'm having, but I'm fine if I alternated drinks with other alcoholic drinks. Jacques is a drink that appeals to everyone from older ladies to young lads because of it's light and fresh taste.
