Refreshing Drink (Strongbow Jacques Fruit Cider)

I'm sure i'm not the only one that drunk cider as a teenager. After this I was put of cider for what I thought would be for life but as everything else does cider changes and that certainly happened when I came across this bottle whilst shopping in Morrisons one night.

Jacques is a fairly new Belgian style cider from Strongbow. Priced at £3.59 or two bottles for £5 I thought I may as well give it a try. The are 750ml bottles which are meant for sharing but once you try this you definately won't want to share it. It's 5.5% ABV so not too strong. I bought two bottles of Fruits des bois so my review will be solely on this one but you can also get Orchard Fruits.

The night I came across it, it was surprisingly quite warm outside and sunny so I wanted something refreshing. The bottle is clear glass and the cider is a pink/red colour which was very eye catching.

It's got a small blue and white label so it doesn't cover too much of the bottle but big enough to get all the information you need. It states it's lightly sparkling cider with fruit. It looked so refreshing especially with the colour of the cider and it certainly looked fruity.

Once getting it home I put it in the fridge because the label says it's best served cold over ice. After a couple of hours I finally got to pur myself a well deserved drink (well after all that waiting!!)

The taste - It tastes just as good as it looks. It's fruity with hints of cherry, raspberry and blackcurrant. It really is a refreshing drink but almost too easy to drink. It doesn't taste alcoholic at all and just like a fruit drink.

The one thing I did find about it though that it was a lot more gassy than I thought it was going to be. I found after two glasses that I was quite bloated and couldn't drink anymore. it would be better if it wasn't as gassy. You are best having this chilled with some ice.

It is definately worth a try and will definately be good for the summer months.
