Advantages: clean, crisp, cheap
Disadvantages: under no circumstances drink it warm
refreshing summer drink or chosen poisen of the youngsters of today?
You may be of the opinion that this is the drink of choice of the young hooligans that go around causing trouble nowadays, and in many ways you are correct. But is this a good enough reason to disregard the drink as a bad job? i dont think so. The youth of today would abuse any alcohol they could get their hands on unfortunatly, and ciders should not get a bad press.
this leads me to the conclusion that this is the other of my choices, a refreshing summer drink (if we ever get a summer this year). it is a fact that there is nothing better on a warm summer day than a nice cider over ice.
Strongbow is definately one of the best, and most reasonably priced of all the ciders on the market at the minute. made by h.p. bulmer ltd, in hereford (coincidentally the same people who brew magners), it offers a clean crisp taste. made from bitter-sweet cider apples, it is a complex taste that is excellent for quenching a thirst, and also easy enough to drink on a night out.
at the minute i am buying in tescos at 55p for a 440ml can, which is cheap as chips, and very, very nice with ice. It is 5.3% alcohol, which translates to 2.3 uk units. And just to show i am a responsible member of the community
dont exceed - 4 daily units men
3 daily units women
This cider is excellent quality, at a really affordable price. it is made by the same people who make the horribly over priced magners, and to be honest with you there is very little difference between the two. so my advice to you is to avoid drinking magners, drink stongbow instead and save a packet at the same time!!G
Summary: the best, and the most reasonable
