Strongbow - makes me think of summer beer gardens (or should that be cider gardens...!), a misspent youth, refreshment and arrows slamming into pub bars (this last one is from the adverts though - I don't personally make a habit of vandalising pub bars!).

It seems to have a reputation as a cheap drink for folks with cheap tastes, but I whole heartedly agree with the other reviewers who identify it as an underrated drink which is light, refreshing and pretty good value for money.

It seems that Magners and Bulmers are the popular ciders nowadays. I like these a lot but Strongbow is better value for money and, in my opinion, nicer to drink! As a price comparison a 4 - pack of 500ml Strongbow cans will cost you £3.72 in Asda which comes to £1.86 per litre (price-checked on line today 18/06/09). However, a 4-pack of 500ml Bulmers cans will cost you £5.28 which comes to £2.64 per litre!

I tend to buy a four pack once a week so this cost-difference is quite significant - especially when I prefer the taste of Strongbow anyway!

TOP TIP - I've said how much I enjoy Strongbow in summer, but in winter you can brew it up on the hob with a home mulled-cider kit (usually about £1 for four bags). This is a truly perfect winter warmer!

Summary: It costs less and tastes better than it's rivals - enough said!
