Advantages: Crisp, cool and tasty!
Disadvantages: Not so trendy, apparently.
Its a hot sticky evening and your going to the local for an early evening drink, what more could you want then something crisp, cool and thirst quenching. Thats when I think of Strongbow.
I have been a cider drinker for some time now. In recent years it seems cider has become more trendy, in the past it was thought of as an alcoholics drink-at least thats what I was told! As such the market has of late been saturated with more fashionable brands of cider. 'Real' cider from 'real' apples, along with pear cider and other such flavours. With this wave of enthusiam ciders like Strongbow have become the poor relation, how wrong?
Strongbow may not be as trendy or have authentic apples, it may not evoke a summers orchid or remind you of the old country as other brands claim but it does just what you want a pint to do. Its tasty, its refreshing, its amazing.
Personally I find Strongbow to be the lightest cider to drink, its not too sweet and has a lovely zest to it. Its not too heavy which makes it easy to drink and doesn't leave you feeling bloated. The more 'modern' ciders tend to come in overpriced bottled but in my opinion you cant beat a nice cold pint of draft. Its Strongbow everytime for me.
Summary: The old ones are the best
