'Total First Pint' - you've heard it all before (Strongbow)

Advantages: sweet light and not too fizzy

Disadvantages: sweet light and not too fizzy - can get bit too drunk

It is light it is tasty and it is guarantied to put you in a good mood! When we were all 14 and we stared trying our best to get beers or anything to look cool on the side of the street, Strongbow in its massive 3lite bottle was a regular for us. As any young group of lads, we were always trying to be cooler than each other and ended up getting too drunk and too sick and all grew up and out of our silly ways and on to either beer, spirits or some stopped drinking altogether.

It seems now that most people (majority my friends) see strongbow for either tramps 'trampjuice' or purely for 'minors' looking for a sweater option to get drunk on. However, I strongly disagree with this. Although I don't agree with the adverts with the 'Total first pint refreshment' I still feel that they are on the right track here.

Yes it is very sweet and yes it does have that refreshing feeling but it is more of a dry cider than one to quench all thirst. I like the fact it is easy to drink but still has a little kick to spur you on. It is not as strong as the serious ciders such as the dreaded 'K' and 'White Lightening'. And does not smell or taste any where near as bad as then.

If you are to compare it to a proper farm or county cider then you are going to get a shock as Strongbow has not got that authentic delicious taste of being fresh and straight from the brewery. It is a very commercialized and general taste so it fits in with a wider variety of people. If you ask anyone that does drink cider they will almost certainly bring up the Bow and I have seem it to be a bit like Marmite - you either love it or hate it.

Another thing I like about the Bow is that even on an extremely hot day - such as the days I have spent at festivals - it is still easy to drink UNLIKE BEER!!!!

I guess the down side to the drink would have to be that as it is so sweet it doesn't always get taken into account that it is quite strong and sometimes too much is drunk too quickly resulting in someone become very drunk very quickly!

Summary: great sociable drink to have and share cheap and very available
