Advantages: Good for staying awake!

Disadvantages: Tastes dire!

I was given a Sugar Free Red Bull recently just to see what they were like, and whilst the original taste isn't the best thing in the world, it really shows that the sugar does help! This iteration has replaced the sugars with sweeteners, which I'm not particularly convinced is a whole lot better for you, and one small 250ml can contains a mere 10 calories (a saving of over 100 calories!). Still, I can't really get to grips with this sugar free variant - the taste is off - to me the sweeteners are too harsh, and remind me of an extremely cheap bottle of coke or lemonade from a supermarket or something.

If I'm going to drink an energy drink, I tend to go with Monster or Relentless because you simply get more drink for your money, whereas Red Bull costs over £1 a can at the moment! The only time I really tend to have Red Bull now is on a night out, as a lot of the bars still don't sell Relentless - and finding them selling diet (at a bar, almost a fallasy, right?) Red Bull is a huge rarity - I think I've seen it in maybe one bar.

Nevertheless, the point still stands that the taste element is just sorely lacking - I like my sugar fix, and if I'm drinking something as bad for me as Red Bull, I know that I'm now going to be the paragon of health, so why delude myself? I know we can speak like that for all diet products, but for something that is pumped with so much taurine and caffeine, why even bother decieving ourselves? If you're pulling an all nighter, the grind is bad enough anyway - why make it worse with a product that tastes noticably worse than the "real deal"?

Summary: I want the sugar back!
